Home rents up 2.7% in a year

30th October 2015

ONS data shows that tenants are paying 2.7% higher rents than a year ago, with renters in London paying 4.1% more. The ONS notes the figure, which is the biggest increase since November 2012, “hides considerable regional variation: while all English regions experienced stronger rental price growth in the year to September 2015 than in the year to September 2014, annual growth in Wales and Scotland slowed." In England tenants are paying 2.8% more than in September 2014, or 1.9% more if the capital is excluded. In the south-east and east of England rents rose by 2.7%.
