26th February 2016
A new 67-storey, 861-unit residential tower which will overlook West India Quay on the Isle of Dogs will be Western Europe's tallest residential tower. Hertsmere House, the 240.5m high, HOK-designed skyscraper has been dubbed the Flower Tower because of its unusual “three-petal” footprint. Residents will benefit from winter gardens, landscaped roof terraces, and external and internal children’s play areas, as well as shops and cafes and communal amenity pavilions. The tower, due to be completed by 2020, will also include 96 homes to be rented or sold to low- and medium-income local residents, with Tower Hamlets Council to receive £19m to go towards providing affordable housing in the borough as part of the deal.
