Plans for a 68-storey, 498-home tower at South Quay on the Isle of Dogs, currently in consultation at Tower Hamlets Council, have been criticised by the Greater London Assembly, English Heritage and Greenwich Council.
All three say it is “too overwhelming”; the GLA says the building “does not comply with the London Plan”, English Heritage says it impacts too heavily on “on the setting of a wide range of heritage assets”, and Greenwich Council claims it brings “tall buildings even closer to the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site”. Investin, the developer behind the tower, is yet to comment on the objections.
