Things perking up in Canada Water

Graham Norwood reports on London's Canada Water which is undergoing its second regeneration in 30 years. He says that a short walk around the area confirms that a transformation is needed, pointing in particular at the Surrey Quays shopping centre which now looks outdated and attracts mostly mid-to low-market retail occupiers. Research reveals that 2,228 homes are under construction with consent for a further 2,865. Chris Early, of Kinleigh, Folkard & Hayward, says 30% of his Canada Water purchasers are now investors seeking properties to let. Mr Norwood says that when the extensive regeneration is finished, Canada Water will become a location with prime-priced properties and an appropriately upscale infrastructure.
