The Independent’s Chris Blackhurst writes in his weekly column that instead of bemoaning foreign investors, empty properties and taxes, Britain should start building in London.
He states that all unnecessary regulatory obstacles should be removed; brownfield sites should be developed; abandoned industrial sites need to be demolished and built on; and empty shops and the flats above them ought to be converted to residential use. Mr Blackhurst adds that people must be encouraged to head to east London where land is cheaper and more plentiful.
