Since the end of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the athletes’ accommodation in the Olympic Park East Village has stood empty – something that is about to change, as the first residents ready themselves to move in.
The shared-ownership schemes available for the affordable homes at the site are an ideal opportunity for first-time buyers to get on the housing ladder. The buildings were built with environmental considerations in mind, with carbon-efficient construction methods and green roofs; as well as this, cycling is encouraged, with plentiful bike stands for storage. One incoming resident said that "I'm excited to be one of the first to move in to this whole new community. The apartment is quite big, I like the balcony particularly and there's good broadband connectivity - it's the little things that all add up."
