House prices in London have risen five times faster than rents in the capital since 2005 – fuelling fears of a speculative bubble, according to the Mail on Sunday.
Their research is based on figures from the Office for National Statistics. House prices in London rose by 62% between January 2005 and December 2013, while rents rose 12% over the same period; across England, prices increased by 26% over that period, against a 9% rise in rents.
