Private sector rents will go up to an average of £1,625 a month by the time Boris Johnson finishes his second term in 2016, new figures by Labour claim.
Tenants living in inner London will pay even more, an average of £1,800, while those in the outer suburbs will pay £1,350. The overall average, compiled with Valuation Office Agency figures, has gone up by more than £500 a month since the Mayor was re-elected in May 2012, when it stood at £1,118.
