New inner London homes to be built

The government has unveiled ambitious new plans to demolish old estates in order to create hundreds of thousands of new homes in inner London, with Eric Pickles stating: “Completely rebuilding traditional streetscapes can provide more housing and commercial space using the same amount of land." The announcement follows the setting aside of £150m in this year’s budget aimed at helping to speed up the regeneration of parts of London.
