Landlords demand refunds

22nd November 2013

The National Landlords Association has said that it has written to English councils urging them to repay some licence fees to landlords, following a series of legal decisions.

The decisions affect landlords with houses in multiple occupation (HMOs), which must be licensed by local councils. Richard Lambert, chief executive of the NLA, said: "We have asked local authorities to come clean about the level of fees they have charged private landlords, if they were entitled to make these charges, and when they will refund any money unjustly demanded."
