Boris Johnson has announced plans to pay the costs of decontaminating areas of the capital where homes could be built, in return for commitments to housing construction.
"There is a massive problem with property prices and availability of property in London. What we're going to say to developers is that we're going to decontaminate these sites but you have got to commit to build 10,000 homes," said Mr Johnson. The scheme will focus on 33 areas within the capital which present prime opportunities for home building.
