The age of the typical home buyer seeking a mortgage has dipped to its lowest level in nearly four years at 36.9 years, despite the impact of stricter lending criteria under the mortgage market review system.
Brian Murphy, head of lending at the Mortgage Advice Bureau, said: "We have seen the average age of buyers seeking a mortgage slowly falling over the last 12 months, which is a symptom of greater opportunity and movement in the market”.
