The Evening Standard's Anthony Hilton says that the Help to Buy mortgage scheme has attracted disproportionate criticism for fuelling a housing bubble.
Mr Hilton agrees with the view that George Osborne should guarantee the scheme will run for at least another three years, and put in place plans to privatise it. He adds that the scheme has given house builders the confidence to build in volume and boost the whole economy.
