The Coalition has announced plans to build tens of thousands of new homes as well as further changes to the planning laws in the Queen's Speech.
Under the Infrastructure Bill, developers will be handed the power to push through applications without the need for council approval if councils "fail to discharge a condition in time". The Bill will also make it easier for the Government to sell unused public land for development and enable the construction of new garden cities as well as offering more support to small house builders. The Queen also announced that ministers would "continue to promote the Help to Buy" scheme.
