The Bank of England has said lending by banks and building societies participating in its Funding for Lending scheme (FLS) was three times higher in the third quarter.
The Bank said that lending bodies had taken £5.8bn under FLS in the three months to the end of September. The biggest net lenders in the third quarter of the year were Lloyds and Nationwide, which increased lending by £3.1bn and £2.7bn, respectively.
