East Wick project moved forward

31st January 2014

Interest in the Olympic Village is such that the later phases of the regeneration project are being accelerated.

The London Legacy Development Corporation will next month put forward a planning applications for East Wick, near Hackney Marshes, and Sweetwater in Tower Hamlets. A report from Hackney Council said the East Wick development, originally due for completion by the late 2020s, will now begin in late 2015, for completion around ten years hence. A developer for the 1,500-home scheme, about 30% of which will be affordable, will be chosen later this year. Separately, Taylor Wimpey and L&Q have had permission granted to start work at Chobham Manor, the first new neighbourhood to be built on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The first phase will see 259 homes built.
