Boris: Raise council tax for the wealthiest

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson has suggested that Britain’s wealthiest people should be made to pay higher levels of council tax.

The Mayor said he was open to proposals for new council bands to ensure the richest property owners paid more tax. He singled out “Russian oligarchs”, criticising the low levels of council tax they pay on their "stuccoed schlosses" in upmarket parts of London.
