Battersea flats to be offered to Brits first

Battersea power station’s developer has moved to defuse the growing row over foreign ownership of London homes by promising to offer all its properties for sale in Britain first.

Rob Tincknell, overseeing the power station’s regeneration for its Malaysian owners, said: “Londoners have seen it sit derelict for 30 years. It’s only right that we launch in London first.” However, the Sunday Times comments that Mr Tincknell’s promise will raise eyebrows because at least half the 866 Battersea power station’s flats forward-sold last year went to Far Eastern buyers.
