Telford Homes has announced a new development in east London, just two minutes’ walk from Stratford’s transport hub.
The Stratosphere project offers 307 apartments, all prepared to an extremely high specification; the centrepiece of the project is a 36-storey tower offering views across the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Canary Wharf, and the City of London. Tower Hamlets Council’s Strategic Development Committee has waved through a 134-apartment multiple level tower development at Crossharbour on the Isle of Dogs. 7 Limeharbour, to be built by Telford Homes, will rise up to 23 storeys high, and includes over 34% affordable housing. Replacing a 1980s office block, which has stood vacant for the past year, the tower will also feature a landscaped public plaza and improved pedestrian links to the Crossharbour DLR station

Councillors at Tower Hamlets have also given the go-ahead for a 31-storey tower, at Park Place near Cabot Square, Canary Wharf. As part of the agreement for the 170-metre high development, Canary Wharf Group will make Section 106 contributions toward Crossrail works, bus services, leisure facilities and an Ideas Store.

Boris Johnson has focused on housing in his speech to the Conservative Party conference, demanding that new homes in the capital should be sold first to Londoners rather than wealthy foreigners. “I want (homes) marketed first and sold first to the people of this country, not to ‘oligarchs from the Planet Zog’”, he stated.

Members of Tower Hamlets’ strategic development committee have deferred a planning decision on a proposal for a 68-storey, 496-apartment tower at South Quay on the Isle of Dogs.
